This pillow case is hand-spun and hand-woven by our team in Assam. The pillow case is bundle dyed with flowers from our garden in the high altitude region Ladakh. We grow a variety of dye plants and wanted to print them onto pillows to make these memories last. The flowers and plants used are cosmos, white and yellow yarrow flowers and leaves, dahlias, marigold flowers and leaves, sulfur cosmos, and black hollyhocks. The silk is called eri silk and cultivated by Assamese tribal communities South West of Guwahati. It is a wild silk and the moth leaves a hole in the cocoon as it has to be empty before it can be processed. Therefore it has a structure which is rather similar to linen.
