This scarf is hand-spun and hand-woven by our team in Assam. The yarn is dyed with the very young teak leaves which are harvested in April in the village. The young leaves yield a mauve shade compared to the beige shade of mature teak leaves. The silk is called eri silk and cultivated by Assamese tribal communities South West of Guwahati. It is also called peace silk as the moth has to leave the cocoon as it has to be empty before it can be processed. Therefore it has a structure which is rather similar to linen.
