Ladakh Artists' Retreat


What would it look like to truly disconnect from the hustle and bustle of life and work? The Ladakh Artists’ Retreat offers a unique transformative break.

We Are Kal, in collaboration with Sanya, a multidisciplinary artist based out of New Delhi, presents a one-of-its-kind 3-day imaginative and educational art retreat tailored for textile and art enthusiasts.
Curated for beginners, this retreat offers a unique opportunity to immerse in the serene mountains of Leh, Ladakh, India, within a peaceful village embraced by nature. 

Dates: September 13th until September 16th - a three day experience in Ladakh.



Participants will explore a diverse canvas of arts, nature, and community experiences. The program features a hands-on demonstration of the natural dyeing process by skilled local artisans, followed by a session where participants can dye their own yarns and create beginner-level crochet goodies, blending traditional techniques with the unique creative expressions.
This retreat is curated by an experienced group of artists & facilitators.
Starting on Friday afternoon and lasting until Monday morning, we have room for 15 participants in this batch.

Itinerary:

Day 1 : Check In by 12 noon on, relax and settle in at the Nature Residency Hotel, Leh. A 20-minute walk to the Kal studio, assemble for a wholesome lunch together, connect with fellow participants. The first session begins at 4 pm, followed by an immersive walk around the Choglamsar Village. A soulful art therapy session & evening tea, and then a pleasant dinner together at the Kal Studio with fellow participants.

 

Day 2 : A small trek around the Indus river in the early morning. The second day is an extensive art-ful day! It includes learning about the natural dyeing process at the Kal studio, followed by a practical demonstration by local artisans. This session will be followed by a DIY Ladakhi Lunch, where all the participants engage in the art of making Pahadi Momos by the locals. Attendees will then have the opportunity to dye their yarns on their own yarns. In the evening, we have a Baithak, where participants engage in meaningful conversations of their journey & their art practices along with tea & coffee – followed by dinner and bonfire.

 

Day 3 : A trip to the local stupa for the morning prayer in Thiksey. This day is entirely dedicated to learning the art of crochet. The participants in the morning gather at the KAL Studio, witness the craft and learn the basics of crochet using the yarns they dyed. Experiential weaving & spinning experience led by the skilled local artisans at the studio. By the end of the day, have tangible creations for yourself, and little souvenirs from the workshop and an especially curated gift box. The evening will be followed by a farewell dinner at a restaurant in Leh and exploring the local Leh market.

 

Day 4 : Checkout by 9 am.

Stay and Food:

The Nature Residency Hotel lies amidst the scenic landscape along the Indus River. A 20-minute walk to the KAL studio, this is where you truly feel the real comfort of nature. The serene valley, spectacular view of the mountains, soothing sound of the river, exhilarating  fresh air and just beauty all around you.

The breakfast will be served at the hotel, while lunch & dinner meals would be at the KAL studio.

Reach:

The best way to reach us is by air. A 20-minute drive from Leh airport to the KAL Studio & 15 minute drive from Leh Market.

 

Cost:

INR 30,000 + 18% GST = 35,400 (Deluxe Room)

INR 33,000 + 18% GST = 38,940 (Super Deluxe Room)

Kindly note that travel to Leh and the final leg to the studio are to be managed individually.

Inclusions - A private room & all three meals, all workshops with materials, internal transfers.

You will be required to pay the full amount at the time of booking, free cancellation available until 31st August. After this date, the amount cannot be refunded. Ladakh Artists’ Retreat, is an experience designed for you to step away from the daily hustle-bustle, experience the slow pahadi life, reflect & transform whilst learning new skills.
